Beth Smith, R.D., L.D.N

Beth Smith is a Registered Dietitian/Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist. She graduated from The University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Nutrition and Food Sciencesin 1986 and then from Memphis State University with a M.S. in Fitness and Wellness in 1988. Beth Smith Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist
She started out as a Clinical Dietitian working at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN, but wanted to change to an environment where the clients come seeking the information so moved out into the Wellness arena. She worked at Methodist Central in the Department of Health Promotion in Memphis for 3 years working with Cardiac Rehab patients and helping to develop and implement a nutrition, exercise and behavioral change program called Good News. She was a pioneer doing Grocery Store Tours.
As the world of nutrition is ever changing, she moved into the world of research to see and experience how it functions working at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis for 14 years. She was a nutrition interventionist for the Trials of Hypertension Prevention (T.O.H.P.), Trials of Nonpharmacological Intervention in the Elderly (T.O.N.E.),the Women's Health Initiative (W.H.I) and Action for Health in Diabetes (Look A.H.E.A.D.).
Beth wants to be well­ educated and reads and attends seminars/webinars in order to stay current. A childhood dream of Beth's was to dance on Broadway! She loves to dance as it is such a beautiful nonverbal expression of self. She brought her dream to life as best she could through the world of ballroom dance. She teaches, manages and co­-owns with her husband, Benji,a Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Bartlett. Beth loves life and wants to live it to the fullest. She does her best to keep balanced with work, play and sleep while eating a balanced diet and staying fit.
